Those who’ve played the original Fable will find that this game both adds and detracts from the previous one’s success. Adds with a well developed storyline, even more moral choices than before, and detailed graphics. Detracts the ease of finding the stores you want, the idea that your character can die, and the concept of you having to ‘search’ for treasures..the game practically taunts you in its simplicity. The fact that the designers decided to have a glowing trail towards a single objective, instead of a compass showing all possible missions and mini-missions like the previous game, also is a buzz-kill.
I’d
suggest playing the first Fable on the original Xbox before
thinking about playing this one. Otherwise, you’ll be more than
just confused by the occasional joke made ingame about the
original, and feel even more lost within the world of Albion.
Like how the main character can learn to fight without a teacher
when the first game gave multiple teachers. My main complaint
with this one is that they don’t make it a true stand
alone..this sequel needs the original to move along at all. Just
goes to show that even the best creative minds fall for those
short-cut traps too.
